Disaster Education
The Prepare Oregon presentation, "Prepare Oregon:
Before Disaster Strikes," is a free disaster preparedness
instructional for individuals, families and organizations to help
them prepare for and respond to disasters, both natural and man-made
(fire, earthquake, severe storm...). The presentation offers ways
people can reduce the potentially traumatic impact of a disaster,
and offers suggestions on how to prevent injuries, save lives
and reduce the loss of property. The presentation emphasizes what
individuals and families should include in their disaster supplies
kit. It also offers suggestion as to the development of a family
disaster plan and stresses the importance of being trained in
First Aid/CPR. Typically, the presentation is about one hour in
length, but can be adjusted upon request. During the presentation,
participants have the opportunity to learn how prepared they really
are by taking the "Ready or Not" preparedness quiz.
All participants receive a free copy of Prepare Oregon's "Be
Aware and Prepare" booklet and a wallet-sized Emergency Contact
Card. The presentation is given to any group of 10 or more people
at the location of the hosting group. To schedule a presenter,
