Red Cross Assists Family Left Homeless
By Fire
PORTLAND, Ore.—May 28,
2004—Volunteers of the American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter
assisted a family that was displaced by an early afternoon fire
in Beaverton that completely destroyed their home and possessions.
The Red Cross was contacted by the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue
at 6:00 p.m. today. Five disaster action team (DAT) volunteers
arrived on the scene to assist four adults and four children who
were left homeless by the fire.
The home, located on Liberty Bell Drive, was completely destroyed
by the fire which was fought by 11 units of the Tualatin Valley
Fire and Rescue. The fire broke out shortly after 11:00 a.m. and
was extinguished shortly after noon. Red Cross volunteers worked
for several hours with the family to provide food and clothing
for the family.
This assistance is offered at no charge to Red Cross disaster
clients, who are served thanks to the generosity of Oregonians
supporting the American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter. To become
