Bridgeport Brewing Celebrates the "Spirits" of the Winter Season
With the Release of Bridgeport Ebenezer Ale

PORTLAND, Ore. - Sept. 27, 2004 - Charles Dickens' immortal character Ebenezer Scrooge once exclaimed, "Every idiot who goes about with 'Merry Christmas' on his lips should be buried with a stake of holly through his heart!" That same man later uttered the noteworthy words, "I am as giddy as a drunken man!" It is in the spirit of Ebenezer Scrooge's transformation that BridgePort Brewing Co. releases its award-winning winter seasonal, BridgePort Ebenezer Ale. The traditional winter warmer can currently be found on store shelves, and is available in package and on draught through Jan. 2005.

Brewed in homage to the holiday season, BridgePort Ebenezer Ale is full-bodied, rich mahogany in color, crowned with a creamy head and finished with a festive warmth. The ale is brewed with four kinds of roasted malts, and local and imported hops. It is naturally-conditioned in the keg and bottle to enhance the smooth balance of malt and hops. The beer was named a silver medal winner at the prestigious Brewing Industry International Awards competition in London in 2002.

BridgePort Ebenezer Ale's brand packaging is themed in conjunction with Dickens' classic tale. The ale's labels and packaging feature pen and ink drawings of the evolution of the famous Dickens character: one side of the six-pack carrier and case box shows Ebenezer with his miserly "Scrooge" personality intact while the other side of the packaging depicts the transformed Ebenezer, who has been altered into a caring and philanthropic soul.

In conjunction with the winter seasonal, BridgePort will present its third annual "An Evening with Ebenezer," on Dec. 14. An intimate three-course dinner and theater experience at BridgePort BrewPub, the event is a fundraiser for the Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross. (For tickets and more information, visit www.redcross.pdx.org.)

A variety of Ebenezer merchandise is also available for holiday gifts in the pubs and online at www.bridgeportbrew.com.

As Oregon's oldest craft brewery, BridgePort Brewing Co. is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The brewing company has reached this milestone by evolving from a microbrewery to a regional leader in the craft brewing market, while remaining faithful to its commitment to producing high-quality, innovative craft ales that are true to their heritage.

BridgePort's ales are distributed in nine western states: Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, Colorado, Northern California, Arizona and New Mexico. The brewery is located at 1313 N.W. Marshall St. in Portland. To learn more, visit www.bridgeportbrew.com or call 503.241.7179.
