Tickets still available for March 16 event – proceeds support local Red Cross services
PORTLAND, Ore. – April 3, 2005 – Volunteers from the American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter assisted two adults and two children after their apartment in St. Johns suffered fire damage late Sunday morning.
Two individuals were home at the time were taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital . The fire started at approximately 11:30 a.m. and Portland Fire and Rescue responded to the call. Three Oregon Trail Chapter volunteers met with the affected residents at Emanuel to provide cash assistance for immediate needs such as meals, clothing and a place to stay. Red Cross caseworkers will meet with the families in the coming days to determine their long-range recovery needs.
One of the children affected by the fire is due to celebrate their birthday on Monday, April 4.
The assistance is offered at no charge to Red Cross disaster clients, who are served thanks to the generosity of Oregonian s supporting the American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter.
