The Red Cross Helps Mother of Tsunami
Victim Travel to
Thailand to Bring Daughter’s Remains Home
PORTLAND, Ore. – July 5, 2005 – The
mother of Angie Foust will be leaving for Thailand on Wednesday,
July 6. She will be available to speak with media at 8:30 a.m.
at the United Airlines ticket counter.
Foust’s mother, Christina Ankofska, was notified last
Wednesday by the State Department that her daughter’s
remains had been identified in Thailand. After contacting the
American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter, local caseworkers were
able to secure funding for Ankofska’s travel arrangements
through the International Relief Fund.
More than $1 billion was raised in six weeks to help tsunami
victims and their families. Portland area residents donated
$2 million to relief efforts.
