At approximately 5:45 am Disaster Assistance Team members arrived at a two-alarm fire in a Tigard apartment complex to provide immediate assistance to affected residents.
Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue personnel responded to a multi-unit second alarm fire at the apartment complex on SW 108th Street early this morning. Four units are uninhabitable and Red Cross responders are assisting four adults and five children with food, clothing, and temporary lodging. Oregon Trail Chapter Mental Health volunteer personnel also responded to the fire scene to assist affected residents.
A few hours later the Red Cross received a call from the Portland Fire Bureau and responded to another apartment fire consisting of four units. Red Cross client services caseworkers will continue to work with the families of both fires in the coming days to provide additional assistance as needed.
