Oregon Trail Chapter Latest News

PORTLAND, Ore. – (December 29, 2007) Just four days after Christmas, a family of six was forced from their home into the cold and wet night after being roused from their beds by an early morning fire. Thanks to the American Red Cross, however, they were able to spend the rest of the night in a warm hotel room.

Units of the Clackamas County Fire Department quickly responded to the residential fire in the 15200 block of SE Holcomb in Oregon City, preventing widespread damage to the residence. Members of the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team 7 also responded, providing immediate emergency shelter. In the coming days, additional assistance will be provided as the family recovers from the harrowing experience.

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.
