Red Cross volunteer disaster team at Beaverton fire scene

PORTLAND, Ore. – February 13, 2007 –American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter Disaster Assistance Team One volunteer responders from all over the metro area have arrived to support the Beaverton family of five (two adults, three children)  displaced by fire in the 165-hundred block of SW Ivy Glenn, south of Farmington.  Three  responders have arrived, with a fourth en route, and the team leader is providing on-line support and coordination from off-site.   Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue has more information; see http://pdxinfo.net/IIN/closures-cats.php?Alert=0&RegionID=1&Testing=0

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. Local Red Cross volunteers respond to residential fires and other disasters every 40 hours on average. All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from Oregonians.
