Red Cross Disaster Action Teams respond to 3 fires

PORTLAND, Ore. – June 26, 2007– American Red Cross Disaster Action Teams had a busy day Monday responding to three recent fires. Volunteers responded to a single unit apartment fire in Canby Oregon, and provided immediate assistance to 1 adult and 3 children.

Red Cross volunteers also assisted 1 adult that was affected by a single unit apartment fire in Cornelius on June 20th. Another single unit apartment fire in SE Portland displaced 2 adults and 2 children on June 24th. One injury was reported. Disaster Action Team volunteers were able to locate those individuals affected and provide them the assistance they so desperately needed.

When Oregon families lose everything to a devastating house or apartment fire, Red Cross volunteers arrive on the scene within the hour to help. Local fire bureaus are in contact with the Oregon Trail Chapter volunteers around the clock to help people who are literally out on the street, oftentimes with nothing but the clothes they are wearing. Last year, the Oregon Trail Chapter helped 2,054 individuals recover from house fires as well as other local disasters.

Please join us in thanking our Disaster Action Team volunteers for their continued service.
