Red Cross volunteers respond to Tigard house fire

PORTLAND, Ore. – September 10, 2007– In the wee hours of the morning, six volunteers with the American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter raced to respond to a two-alarm fire at 12610 SW Ascension Drive in Tigard. The volunteers were called to the scene by Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and were on site about one hour after the fire was reported at 2:15 a.m. on September 10.

The Red Cross helped 11 displaced residents -- seven adults and four children -- by providing assistance with food, clothing and temporary lodging. Client services caseworkers will continue to provide assistance to the affected families in the days ahead, providing additional aid as needed.
