Oregon Trail Chapter Latest News

PORTLAND, Ore. – (February 6, 2008) Across five southern states, American Red Cross people and supplies are flowing in to provide care and comfort to those affected by the devastating tornadoes. In nearly every tornado-affected community Red Cross workers began working last night, and remain on the job, providing shelter, feeding victims and search and rescue workers and lending emotional support to all.

Donna Jensen, a volunteer nurse with the Oregon Trail Chapter, has been requested by name to work at the Red Cross disaster operations center in Washington, D.C., overseeing the health services response to the tornados. While her travel plans aren't yet finalized, she expects to depart later today or early tomorrow morning.

At this time, no other volunteers have been requested from the Oregon Trail Chapter, though we are currently checking availability, should additional assistance be needed.
