In its service to the Armed Forces and their families, the American
Red Cross provides a vehicle for communications, especially during
emergencies, financial assistance related to emergency leave and
other selected emergency circumstances, Red Cross health, safety
and related courses, and trained volunteers for hospital and other
social services. Services are provided to veterans and other civilians
and their families in keeping with local and national need and
availability of Red Cross resources.
AFES delivers essential Red Cross services to active duty members
and their families worldwide to help them prevent, prepare for,
and cope with emergency situations. In certain circumstances,
this also includes active duty National Guard and Reserve Component
members.

Reporting and Communications
Red Cross assists in communicating family matters such
as serious illness, death in the family or birth of a child.
This information can be used to verify the situation for leave
requests. Communication services between members of the Armed
Forces and their families are available 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week. For service, contact your nearest local Red Cross office
for assistance. Information needed will include the service
member's complete name, rank, social security number and military
address.
Emergency Financial Assistance
Red Cross works with service members and their families by making
referrals to military aid societies for emergency financial
assistance.

Red Cross helps military families cope with urgent problems
by providing information, referral and guidance on a strictly
confidential basis.
