It’s a Fact: More than 22
Million American Families are Caring for a Loved One at Home.
If your household is part of the growing trend of caring for
a loved one at home, you already know that ensuring a safe environment
and providing even the most basic care can be overwhelming. Add
in the stress of a job or raising your own children you can be
left feeling alone and frustrated.
But you are not alone. Now you can learn new information to provide
even better care with Family Caregiving presentations or the home-reference
study kits from the American Red Cross. This exciting new program
helps you balance your caregiving responsibilities with other
demands – and helps you maintain more control over your
life.
Modular Program Design Offers Convenience and Flexibility:
Our modular program design lets you choose from nine information-packed
sessions. You decide which ones best meet your specific caregiving
needs. Because each module covers just one topic, they can be
taken in any order. We will typically teach the most common modules
in a group and offer other modules independently.

Even better, we have condensed the information offered, so individual
modules are just one hour in length. You can even purchase the
9 participant books and VHS tape or DVD in a Home Reference Kit
at our Red Cross chapter store or on-line and learn on your own
time. Either way, you’ll enhance your skills, reduce your
stress and increase your confidence so you can provide the best
care possible.
Topics Include:
• Assisting with Personal Care
• Positioning and Helping Your Loved One Move
• General Caregiving Skills
• Home Safety
• Healthy Eating
• Caring for a Loved One with Alzheimer’s or Dementia
• Caring for a Loved One with HIV/AIDS
• Legal and Financial Issues
• Caring for the Caregiver
Build Skills Affordably.
Compare similar programs and you’ll find that Family Caregiving
is an affordable way to learn. Participant booklets are included
in your presentation fee and there are no additional supplies
to purchase. Plus, the modular program design means you pay only
for those sessions you attend.
Develop Your Own Support Network.
Class participants meet others in similar caregiving situations.
This allows you to develop relationships with other caregivers,
helping you to eliminate feelings of isolation or frustration.
